"Some keep the Sabbath going to Church – I keep it, staying at Home – With a Bobolink for a Chorister – And an Orchard, for a Dome..." Emily Dickinson We're so blessed to live in a place filled with nature and mild weather all year. Fifteen years of my professing life, I worked from office buildings, longing to be in the sunshine just beyond my reach. it was a good life with weekends and holidays off, great health insurance and a reliable schedule with a regular paycheck. so why on earth would I guide that up Nature restores my spirit, it's a constant reminder that I'm not in control. I grew up with a deep love of the natural world; riding on favorite horse, in the swampy woods of my childhood and hearing the wind waft through the trees was better than any possession I could "own." I felt at ease and peaceful, safe in the embrace of the earth and my steed.
I want the pets in my care to feel the sense of calm and comfort that they bring to me. I love my peaceful, quiet days filled with my waggers and purrers. A strong introvert by nature the simplest part of my days is the hard and steady physical work that fills it. My hardest task? Most don't believe it because I do love people and interact enthusiastically, but it is meeting my two legged clients for the first time. It's natural for me to be immediately drawn to the animals in a room and takes focus to do the same with my people. Make no mistake, I love my clients and feel so blessed to serve each one. But it's the time with your fur babies, that silent connection, that I find magical. Like a secret potion. ..or a tonic.
